Cavs Extend Offers To Andy Varejao and Sasha Pavlovic

pavlovic-i-varezao.jpgYesterday, June 30th, the Cavs announced that they extended qualifying offers to both Andy and Sasha, making them restricted free agents.  This means that the Cavs have the “Right of First Refusal,” allowing them to keep both players by matching any offer they sign with another team.

  1. since a couple teams are looking at andy, i wonder how much ferry would be willing to match to keep him.

  2. The Cavs will use their MLE (somewhere b/w 5-6 million) at most to match an offer. I don’t think they’ll go any higher than that.

  3. Why would teams be looking at Andy? He’s a low post liability with no offense and a first instinct to flop.

  4. He is one of the most desirable big men in free agency right now. Plus his “flopping” leads to more possessions, and more possessions lead to more made baskets. He also plays darn good defense, and his energy coming off the bench is unmatched by any other big man in the league.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Ferry would go beyond 6 mil to keep AV. If he doesn’t, he will at least sign and trade him so the Cavs get something in return. He will not just let him walk.

  5. More than 6 million. In his dreams!

Andy has reached his growth peak. He won’t get any better than what we saw last season. Sasha is still showing potential. Once he gets a little stronger, which I expect him to this offseason, and refines his skills, he will be an offensive beast. So whoever wants Andy, let them have him.

  6. Either we’ll keep both,or AV will stay and Sasha will go in a sign and trade deal. That’s my prediction.

  7. I don’t like that:) Here’s mine. We will not keep both, Sasha will stay, and AV will be signed and traded.

  8. ^ you’ll are funny. 6mil, that’s a lot for andy.

  9. […] 101 Wednesday: Free Agency Since I recently posted an article regarding the Cavs extending offers to Andy and Sasha, making them Restricted Free Agents, I figured why not wrap our brains around “Free […]
