Revenge – The Sweetest Joy

For the first time this season since being swept in the Finals last season (Game 1, Game 2, Game 3, and Game 4, which I had no inspiration to write on) the Cavaliers met up with the San Antonio Spurs.

The first quarter didn’t look too good and the Spurs ended it with a 19-26 lead.

At the beginning of the 2nd quarter, Lebron sat on the bench and the Cavs went +15pts with him sitting.  Devon Brown pushed the ball up the floor and connected with Damon Jones on a behind the back pass for an easy lay in off a fast break.  The bench seemed to have breathed life into the Cavs, closing out the 1st half up 50-43.

In the third quarter the Cavs maintained the lead and went into the last quarter up 73-65.  But the Spurs had a comeback left in them.

Brent Barry knocked down a 3, Lebron missed a runner in the lane, allowing Tony Parker to push the ball to the other end of the floor for a layup, and with 1:34 to play, James was called for a goaltend on a block against Parker, and the Spurs went up 86-85.

Then with a calm presence and a stroke as pure as water, Prince Gibson knocked down a 3 pointer to give the Cavs back the lead. (You gotta love him!!!)

James then finished with a basket to put the Cavs up 90-88 after being tied off a shot by Duncan.  With time winding down, Ginobili missed a jumper from the free throw line and the Cavs hung on for a sweeeeeet victory.

James scored 27 points with 9 rebounds, Ilgauskas had 17pts and 6rbs, and Andy added 12pts with 14 rbs to lead the Cavs.

  1. Nice post! A stroke as pure as water – I like it.

  2. Thanks Carolyn…

That was the first thing that came to mind to give a visual of his shot. He is the truth when it comes to knocking down 3-pointers.
