2007-2008 Schedule

The Cavs have announced their 2007-2008 schedule.  Included is a Christmas Day showdown against Shaq and the Heat, on our home court.  We should be in for another awesome season, only this time as defending Eastern Conference Champions!

For your quick reference, the schedule is posted on the right of every page here on Cavs Court.

Silence in Cleveland

There is nothing going on in Cleveland, Ohio.  The Cavs have been sitting on the sidelines this off-seaon, and continue to do so as this month slowly comes to a close.

While there is plenty of off-season left, we will probably have to wait until mid-season to add any quality players to the roster.  As always, I will keep you posted as I hear any news.

Andy Varejao’s Rate on the Decline

andyv_190x227.jpgOn Wednesday night, Varejao’s hopes of signing a hefty contract diminished.  The Grizzlies reportedly made a 3-year deal with Orlando Magic forward Darko Milicic, which will give him a first year salary in the range of $6-$7 million.

The Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Bobcats, and Milwaukee Bucks were the only teams under the salary cap at the beginning of free agency.  Now, as it stands, Memphis has signed Darko, the Bobcats have resigned Gerald Wallace, and the Bucks do not have a need for a forward.

I hear bells of joy ringing in the ears of the Cavs.  These moves will save them a nice chunk of money by allowing them to retain Andy at a decent price.

NBA Announces Salary Cap for 2007-2008

The official salary cap, tax level, and mid-level exception have been set for the 07-08 season.  Free agents now have the green light to sign…sign…sign.
